Listing Conference Papers?

I'm writing up my SSHRC application, and under "Research Contributions" we're invited to list:

2. Other refereed contributions, such as: conference proceedings, papers presented at scholarly meetings or conferences, articles in professional or trade journals, etc.

How do I list conference papers? I can't find any examples so far, and I have, of course, put this off as late as possible. *sigh*

3. Non-refereed contributions, such as: book reviews, published reviews of your work, papers presented at scholarly meetings or conferences, research reports, policy papers, public lectures, creative works etc.

I'm assuming the paper of mine published in one of the quasi-academic journals on campus (criteria for publication: did you get an A? AWESOME!) would go here? Maybe? Obviously not under Refereed Publications, which is first.

What's the citation format you usually use? It should have a protocol for listing conference papers. If you use something like EndNote or RefWorks you can check using that - select "conference paper" and it should ask you to input the required fields and format it for you.

Also, are you keeping your academic and FWD identities separate? If you aren't, then I'd be inclined to list FWD as a non-refereed contribution.

I'm keeping FWD & my academic stuff separate because it's not considered wise to have a reputation of writing scathing reviews of your university's accessibility issues, but thank you for the suggestion. :)

I hadn't thought of just... looking at how citations work for conference papers otherwise. /o\ And Refworks is my favourite, so I'll look in there. Thank you!

If your conferences papers went through a review process of some kind (i.e., not 100% of submissions were accepted), that seems like category 2 ("papers presented at scholarly meetings or conferences"). I'm less sure about student journals, though. Hmm.

They did for both the conferences, yes, so that's good. :) I think the Student Journal (it's a lovely paper, I'm very proud of it, I wish I had submitted it elsewhere) would go under 3? Maybe? *sigh* I hate this. Can't I just tell them I'm awesome and they can give me thousands of dollars?

For part of a draft cover letter for a post-doc, I once wrote "The project I would do at [university] would be awesome and relevant to many topics of awesomeness." I was so tempted to leave it in.

I think (3) is the "catchall" category; if you can't figure out a better place to put it, slap it on there. I doubt it would *hurt*, you know?

When i was interviewed for my MA placement here I actually said "Well, because I'm awesome. Let me tell you how." It worked!

Sounds right to me, and yeah, it can't hurt. Also, I want to brag. "Look! I wrote something! Someone read it! Look at me!!!!" (I still have to send my mother a copy. They put it in a bound book! You could check it out of the library!)
