Thursday check-in
So how's everyone doing? Has term started where you are?
I'm in the process of transferring to my third department in three years, but no one actually tells me things so I have no idea which department I'm in right now. Good times!

Of course, the course convenor is notoriously bad at responding to emails in a prompt and orderly fashion, so I intend to give him a call tomorrow if I don't hear from him today. I did hear from my advisor, who is very supportive, thank deity.

*Laughs self silly over the idea of finalised module choices*
(Sorry, that's the grouchy person in me who keeps getting e-mails saying "Sorry! Strike Student X from your list! Add Students B, D and Q.")

Wait, what term ? Are you referring to that legendary thing strange people with no deadlines call... summer holidays ? I'm pretty sure that's children tale, a year can't be organised that way. Yet, it seems to remind me of a period of my life far far ago. But... no, no. It must be a tale. Yet there are incredibly more people around now than one month ago...

Well last year I heard I was belonging to a CNRS department when they asked me to vote for electing the counsil. I replied to their mail "but I do not belong to your department, I don't even belong to CNRS" "Sorry, we checked, you're on the list, you belong to our department. You've been for three years now".
Everytime you think you'll never be surprised by administration again, they strike higher.
By the way, I joined yesterday, hello, fellow researchers !

I'm also waiting to be told times and rooms for my teaching this term, and trying to figure out at what point I decide they've forgotten about me and email the English department to ask. Given that term starts on the 27th, I suspect that point should be rather soon :/

I'm in the middle of moving, and just done working/submitting articles/Abstracts so the reading for the thesis shall resume within the upcoming month.
Next week I'm to open the blog for all my PhD/academia stuff, so still busy even if I don't know what term means, and I would be very happy if my registration that went well would result in getting my student card. grrrrrrr!
